Samsung’s Galaxy S22 faces a massive challenge to compete with Apple’s all-new iPhone 13 range. Now a new leak has revealed Samsung’s first big design decision and it is going to shock a lot of Galaxy fans.

Following confirmation that Apple significantly increased battery capacities across the iPhone 13 lineup, historically reliable Samsung site GalaxyClub has revealed that the Galaxy S22 will go in the opposite direction and get a potentially damaging battery downgrade

GalaxyClub states it has “concrete details” that the Galaxy S22 will use a battery with the model code “EB-BS901ABY” which has a rated capacity of just 3590 mAh. This is a circa 10% reduction compared to the 3880 mAh rated battery of the Galaxy S21. Note, Samsung advertises the typical capacity of the Galaxy S21 as 4000 mAh, based on this metric the Galaxy S21 battery will be approximately 3700 mAh.

And the signs are not good for the rest of the Galaxy S22 line up, either. GalaxyClub notes that the Galaxy S22+ will have a 4500 mAh battery (Galaxy S21+ 4800 mAh) while the Galaxy S22 Ultra will at least match the 5000 mAh battery capacity of its predecessor.

I do not think that Samsung can compete with iPhone in many cases and specifications.

But I still think that Samsung is doing far better. At least they are not producing replica of their own model like iPhone 13.
