Polythene Bags should be banned as they are non-biodegradable and cause major environmental hazards. These bags are thrown away after single use and they stay in the soil and contaminate the eco system forever. Saw a documentary that shows Polyethene bag at the Bottom of Mariners Trench which is the deepest part of the Ocean and the world. This shows us the alarming level of pollution caused by these Polythene bags. It’s high time now, they should be banned immediately for the betterment of the future generations.

I agree that the polythene should be replaced with the paper products which can be recycled and dissolved, a famous juice brand have recently introduced the paper straw instead of polythene which I guess is a good step.

Many countries have already banned use of such environment harmful products and it is an offence if caught using such products. Ironically, it is still being used in many underdeveloped and developing countries. We have already caused irreparable damage to our environment by use of such materials and unless this is completely stopped by bringing in stringent environmental laws, we are putting our next generations to huge risks.

It has to banned because it has adverse effects on our environment. Paper and cloth bags can be used. Even biodegradable paper bags are available which can be used.

It has to be banned and moreover they should stop it’s production. And people using polythene bags have to be fined. Only then we can stop this.

Stringent action against the manufacturers as well as consumers of polythene bags will act as a deterrent and provide an impetus to the production of environmental friendly packaging materials. High time government realizes the extensive damage that is being done to the environment due to the uncontrolled use of polythene bags in many countries. Hope good sense will prevail.
