Is Amazon working on their own OS to compete with Microsoft and Apple?

It’s very possible they are going to make their own operating system. Currently I think they utilize android, but I wouldn’t doubt they’ve utilized Linux as well.

If they want to do their own OS, I would be interested to see how it works, but also worried about privacy issues.

Actually Amazon has two OS. The first one is it’s own Linux distribution that is imaginatively named Amazon Linux used by Amazon cloud services and internal services. The other is Fire OS which they developed for Kindle, FireTv and other devices. They would most probably develop an android and rebrand them into Fire OS.

They have Fire OS which is based on android and they have AmazonLinux which they use for its own internal services. There focus is mainly on e-readers so I feel, these are enough for them.

It would be great if Amazon competes with Apple and Microsoft. Looking forward to it. Am sure everyone will be excited how it’s gonna be.

Amazon is known for creating great products. It would be nice if they launch Laptops and desktops under Amazon Basics category with Fire OS. It would be nice to see new OS, feeling stuck with Windows.
