I wish to register a new google account using the same name. How long does it take google to disable the old one after deactivation?

You could give a request to google to recover the old ID itself. This would be lot easier, all your data and files stored in the ID could be retained. They would process you request and will intimate through mail. This would be much better option rather than trying to open the account by same name, as your previous name could be requested by to someone else before you.

Usually a disable account would be deleted in two to three weeks. After that the user name would be made available again. It’s better not to use that user name, as it may get flagged as spam and end up disabled again.

Typically, it will take about 2 business days for Google to process and respond to your request. It could take up to 5 days or a little longer. When a request is made, Google will review your account as well as its content to evaluate if your account should be restored or not. The result of the request will be communicated to you via email.
