Does anyone here own a dash that has a tv screen in it? Where you can stream content, listen to music, and maybe even play games while on the go.

I want to upgrade my dash to have a raspberry pi custom built computer. I think it’d be a fun addition and would add a lot to road trips. 😀

I wouldn’t suggest you to keep TV in your dash as it could be distracting for the driver, It’s very dangerous. It might be even illegal in few states. For better Safety you could install a TV behind the front row seats. This wouldn’t disturb the driver and the passengers can watch Tv and play in the back seats.

I guess it is not a good idea to have a TV on dashboard because it can distract you while driving.

Car’s dash shouldn’t be bright, it might disturb or cause strain to driver while he is on the road. It is advisable to use only the dash provided my car’s manufacturer. They would have placed the brightness at optimum level to avoid distraction. Dash nowadays are capable of displaying maps, but connecting TV in dash is not advisable.

I think you guys are missing the point of a screen in your dash. Most new cars these days already have a screen in the dash. Some that allow people to watch content, listen to music (radio/satellite) etc.

I don’t think anyone expects the driver to use the screen to stream content. If anything, the passenger would be utilizing the screen for those purposes and not the driver.

These screens come in dashes all the time now. And a lot of the time they also have backup cameras and such added in.

But yeah, having a tv screen in your car’s dashboard is a common thing these days.

Most of todays cars have a 7- 10 inch touch screen occupying strategic location in the dashboard. Mainly used for navigation, it also has many other useful purpose. Connecting to your mobile device is one of the most popular, I guess, after navigation. Listening to music, radio is another advantage. But streaming videos is strictly not advisable due to obvious safety reasons.

I use to have a screen in my old truck. I could even watch blu-rays in it. It was really nice to have when I went camping. I had to cut my dash to get it in. But well worth it.

I think it’s illegal to have tv or monitor in the dash. Could use it in the back seat. TV in dash would do more harm than good.
