Am looking for suggestions on which would be the best. I would mainly use it for archiving and watching Blu Rays or DVDs.

You could try ASUS External 16X Blu-Ray Burner. It’s very fast and reliable, virtually quiet. Supports about 16X Burn speed which is very high speed for external Blue Ray writer.

LG has a Slim variant LG Electronics 6X Blu Ray Writer 8X DVD Writer +/- RW USB 2.0 Super Multi Ultra Slim Portable with M-DISC Support (Black) WP50NB40. It’s good but it is USB 2.O, is cheaper than most of the other drives. Has decent 6X Blu ray writing speed and 8X dvd burn speed.

Pioneer Electronics USA Slim External Blue-Ray Burner is a good option. It’s very slim and portable. It only has 6X burn speed, but has 4MB buffer memory which is helpful in avoiding errors while burning. It supports USB 3.0.
