I feel like VPNs aren’t as useful as we’ve been led to believe. I heard a while back that most VPNs can still be cracked by hackers, and don’t 100% hide your location/activity.

They do make it harder for people to get to that info, but it’s like another safety net.

I want to try VPNs, but I don’t know if I want to invest in something that isn’t 100% secure.

A VPN connection is supposed to establish a secure connection between you and the internet. By using VPN, your data traffic is routed through an encrypted virtual tunnel. This disguises your IP address when you use the internet, making its location invisible to everyone. In other words it gives you online privacy and anonymity by creating a private network from a public internet connection. But do remember, a VPN provider can see and mess with all your traffic. Your connections and browsing can get slower. Some countries prohibits use of VPN. Moreover, certain websites block VPN users. There’s exactly no way of knowing how well a VPN encrypts your data. There have been reports about some VPN operators selling browsing data to third parties. All these should be looked into if you go in for a VPN.

There are chances that VPN can be infected with malware. Mostly free VPNs internet connections are slower.

To my knowledge, they do protect somewhat, but a hacker if he is good enough, will still find a way to get your real info. Just be careful basically. Research the VPNs you’re interested in trying. Never use a free service, and never use a service you never heard of.

VPN are good, but doesn’t provide complete safety. It’s always advisable to have good internet security software installed in your PC. These Software constantly monitors your browsing and would stop you from opening fraudulent websites and would also stop ad worms and pop-ups.

Well having premium membership will prevent you from all the drawbacks of VPN.
