I want to create a private server, one where it would be locked off to my local network and only I can access it. I was wondering if it’s easy to make a server like this? I just want a server where I can have my family photos, videos, and other personal documents.

I figure this way, it’s also safer than using a cloud save service. What do you think?

What about a NAS box? I have one and love it.

Yes, it’s a great idea. This way your data would be very secure. But it’s a bit expensive compared to servers provided by server providers. But your privacy and security would be very high compared to them and you can pug it out from the web whenever you want. For Home use and for personal use, NAS box would be a better option than running a dedicated server.

NAS box is awesome, NAS stands for network assisted storage. You can connect your hard disk to cloud you can directly back up your files from mobile, PC to the device and can retrieve it anywhere from the world. It’s like your very own version of google drive.
