To me, cars look cheaper and less reliable than cars from the last 20-50 years or so. I feel a lot of the newer cars on the market, tend to be made with cheaper material and don’t last nearly as long anymore.
Maybe cars have become safer to drive in, but I can’t see them being better today than they were 20-50 years ago. What do you think?

I tend to disagree with this comment. True, cars must have been stronger and probably safer back then. But come to think of it, it used to guzzle fuel and fuel those days were much cheaper. Today, technology have created aerodynamically efficient vehicles which gives fairly good mileage. Vehicles have become lighter as materials going into its manufacture have changed. More safety features are added obviously, as todays cars are real fast. Ultimately it is the disciplined driving which is the need of the hour.

I’ll disagree with your thought. As if we compare old cars with new ones old cars were nothing but iron body and least efficient engine.

Car were considered as Luxury 20-50 years back, so the price and quality was high. Most of the cars produced at that time targeted wealthy people so they have to provide luxury and quality to get their customers. Nowadays, cars have become essential. So to reduce cost and to target all people of all sectors, manufacturers have reduced the quality to cut costs. Even today car like Rolls Royce have scaled up their luxury, safety and features since they don’t have budget and they target wealthy people who can afford it.

This is what i feel about Vintage cars and modern cars, vintage cars focus on beauty, art and aesthetics. Modern cars mostly focus on cost, efficiency and safety. So the modern manufactures overlook art for functionality. Most of modern cars look alike and boring. Vintage cars are artworks that run.
